How to Make a Paper Crane

I show how to make a paper crane, it is pretty easy to make and it is a design that's considered the most classic of all Japanese origami. It is often used as a ceremonial wrapper or restaurant decoration. This simple craft only requires a piece of paper and to follow the steps presented in the video. A thousand paper cranes strung together is called "senbazuru" meaning "thousand cranes". It is a representation of the Japanese Red-crowned Crane which has a special significance in Japanese culture.

An ancient Japanese legend promises that anyone who folds a thousand origami cranes will be granted a wish by a crane. Some stories believe you are granted eternal good luck, instead of just one wish, such as long life or recovery from illness or injury. This makes them popular gifts for special friends and family. The crane in Japan is one of the mystical or holy creatures (others include the dragon and the tortoise) and is said to live for a thousand years: That is why 1000 cranes are made, one for each year. In some stories it is believed that the 1000 cranes must be completed within one year and they must all be made by the person who is to make the wish at the end. Cranes that are made by that person and given away to another aren't included: All cranes must be kept by the person wishing at the end. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thousand_origami_cranes

How to Make a Paper Cup

I show how to make a basic paper cup. It is easy to make but when folding try to make the edges as straight as possible for best results. The origami cup is a traditional and popular design. If you make it with a plastic coated or grease proof paper you can actually use it to retain water and not have the water taste like paper. If you don't have any water resistant paper you can use thicker paper or double the paper up. It can be useful for holding small objects or snacks.

How to Make a Paper Boat

I show how to make a traditional origami paper boat. It is an easy model to make but when folding try to make the edges as straight as possible for best results. It is a fun model to make because it is very simple and will actually float on water. To make the boat last longer in water, try using a wax/grease proof paper, add some tape on the bottom, or use a thicker paper. Use a rectangle piece of paper, a sheet of A4 printer paper works great for this.
